What is an NSDP for ODP

The NSDP hosted on an ODP provides quick access to country’s economic and financial data consistent with the e-GDDS data categories distributed in three groups:[a sample NSDP is provided below]

  1. Macroeconomic and Financial Data
  2. Macroeconomic and Financial Data : Supplementary Data
  3. Demographic and Selected Socio-Economic Indicators
Under each grouping, there are several data categories defined as per e-GDDS standards and for each of these data categories users can get the relevant data and metadata using the following buttons:
  • Browse Data – links to human readable data usually from ODP
  • Download in SDMX – links to data in SDMX format
  • DSBB Metadata – links to access Dissemination Standards Bulletin Board (DSBB) metadata information available on IMF DSBB website.

Accessing your NSDP

The NSDP hosted on an ODP provides quick access to country’s economic and financial data consistent with the e-GDDS data categories.

e-GDDS requires that the NSDP is a live and public page that can be accessed by any user.

Prior to a country going live with their NSDP, the host ODP is set to private and users must login to ODP to access the NSDP.  When a country is ready to go live, the ODP is set to public and all users can access the NSDP without login.

The NSDP can be accessed by using the ‘NSDP’ menu item which appears on the top navigation bar of a host agency’s ODP.

For more information on security settings and setting public access go here.

Editing your NSDP

Users with Administrative rights to the hosting ODP can edit the NSDP using the ‘Edit page’ option. The ‘Edit page’option appears on the upper right side.

Administrators/Managers of the NSDP can configure the links to “Browse Data”, “Download in SDMX” and “DSBB Metadata” using the ‘Edit’ link next to each data category in the NSDP Editor page. By clicking on the ‘Edit’ option, a pop-up window will be launched displaying the links currently configured for each of the buttons.

The links can be updated using the input box given:

  • Data Browse Link – a link to any dashboard representing the data category from the respective agency’s ODP.
  • DSBB Metadata Link – this should be a link to the DSBB metadata page hosted on IMF DSBB website.
While configuring the links for each button, links can be verified instantly by using the “Check Link” option next to the input box. By clicking on “Check Link”, the link specified in the respective input box will open in a new browser window where the content can be verified.

Click here for the NSDP Editor Help Guide.

Changes can be saved using the ‘Ok’ button. The steps can be repeated for other data categories which may require an edit. All the categories where the changes have been made will be marked with (*) to visually indicate the pending updates made on the NSDP.

Going live with your NSDP

The NSDP is a data hub with links to data, dashboards and datasets across multiple agencies. e-GDDS participation requires that all data in the NSDP be publicly available data. Dissemination of data on the NSDP is through ODP dashboards and datasets, which are made “public” (as opposed to “private”).

Your Site Administrator (e.g. Focal Point or Site ODP Manager) controls the accessibility of the ODP site to the public.

Refer to ODP Security and Manage ODP for more information on controlling the access at the Site level.

Dataset owners/contributors controls the accessibility of their datasets and corresponding dashboads to the public. They also have the added responsibility to update and disseminate data on a timely and agreed release schedule.
